Scott
began his career in radio in Ashland,
KY, working the "graveyard shift"
(Midnight to 6 am) at WAMX-FM in 1978.
Yes, back when radio DJ's put the
vinyl on the turntable and dropped the
needle to play the hits! Earning
at BA in Broadcast Journalism from
Marshall University (go Herd!), Scott
served not only in various DJ
positions, but eventually began
working full time in radio news.
He served as the news director for
WGNT in Huntington, WV, supervising a
five person local news staff in the
mid 1980's. Scott was called to full
time Christian Service in 1987, and
began a second career in youth
ministry at that time. Married to his
Bride, Peggy, since 1981, Scott is the
proud pappa to three wonderful kids.
The Blount family moved to Vero Beach
in July of 2000, as Scott accepted the
call to the Family Life Ministry
position at Vero Christian Church.
Shortly after arriving in town, Scott
was introduced to Bruce Douglas who
asked him (jokingly) if he would like
to fill in for Bruce when he was on
vacation. Scott said "sure!"
Now, Scott is heard Saturdays from 1pm
to 5pm, and Sundays from noon to
6, as well as the occasional fill-in
for the vacationing Bruce Douglas.
Scott says getting to be part of the
Christian FM Family is like being a
kid in charge of the candy store.
What better way to use his formal
broadcast training than to play the
best in today's Christian hits on your
Christian FM?
