Please join us for a memorable evening, Wednesday, Dec. 4th at 6:30 pm. We are hosting a unique and heart wrenching play with dancers in support of "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence". This is a must see play. "Waking Kya" is based on real occurrences that took place in Sierra Leone to women and girls during the Blood Diamond era. You will experience life during war in a refugee camp through the narrative of one young woman played by actress, Linda Obasi who was born in Nigeria and studied acting at The Theatre School at De Paul University, New York. As an act of solidarity, we have chosen this play in support of stopping violence against women and children.
We are honored to have the playwright of Siobhan Fitzpatrick Austin, and other members of the cast; director, Pam Warwick, choreographer Stacey Miller and her dancers Laura Guttridge and Kerry Russell, who all reside in Vero Beach.
Tickets are $25 for the play ($15) for students. For an additional $25 you could participate in the post play, candle- lite gathering with wine and hor d'eouvers and join in the discussions with the playwright and cast. Those who purchase tickets for both events will receive preferential seating. A business size advertisement on the program is $10.
