Children learn how to share God's love Imagine what it would be like to grow up in Zimbabwe or Japan or Mexico, in the United Kingdom, or even Australia. Children attending a joint Everywhere Fun Fair Vacation Bible School in Sebastian June 10-14 will discover just how their counterparts live in those countries.
"Our VBS theme, Everywhere Fun Fair teaches the children how to share God's love with all our neighbors...those close by and around the world. Each fun filled day will bring new information and ideas about our neighbors from different countries," said Julie Maschhoff, member of the VBS team from the United Church of Sebastian.
The Vacation Bible School is based on the Bible verse Love the Lord your God...and love your neighbor as yourself from Luke 10:27.
It is jointly offered by Christ the King Lutheran Church and United Church of Sebastian UCC and will be held at the latter, 1251 Sebastian Blvd.
In the spirit of the Neighbors theme, we joyfully partner with our next door congregation to offer the children of this community a fun-filled way to grow in love of God and neighbor said the Rev. Karen Leedahl of Christ the King Lutheran.
Each day a different Bible story will be told or acted out that will relate to the Bible verse theme.
Daily themes are:
Session 1: Neighbors are friendly story of Sarah and Abraham as they welcome visitors. (Genesis 18:1-14.
Session 2: Neighbors are giving story of a widow who gives cheerfully. (I Kings 17:7-16)
Session 3: Neighbors are bold story of the Good Samaritan. (Luke 10: 25-37).
Session 4: Neighbors are forgiving story of Jesus forgiving Zacchaeus. (Luke 19: 1-10).
Session 5: Neighbors are welcoming story that God welcomes everyone. (Acts 10: 1-43).
The half-day sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon and are open to all children ages prekindergarten through fifth grade. They will include a recreation time and a snack.
