Valentine's Day conjures up images of dazzling diamonds, happy couples, romantic dinners by candlelight, and heart-shaped boxes of luscious chocolate. But for our troops deployed around the globe, Valentine's Day is a time when the heart longs for nothing more than a little bit of love.
That's why, for the seventh year in a row, the Military Moms Prayer Group has organized a Valentines for Heroes drive, focused on collecting chocolate candy and Valentine cards for the troops.
Drop off chocolate candy and Valentine cards at two locations: Eye Clinic of Vero and Optical Boutique, 634 21st St. (Miracle Mile, 567-6513); and the Veteran's Council's Victory Center at the Indian River Mall (near Macy's).
Purchase a Braveheart Pin to support the Military Moms Prayer Group. The heart-shaped pin encrusted with red-white-and-blue crystals sells for $12 at I'll Never Tell, a jewelry store at 3351 Ocean Drive in Vero Beach. All proceeds benefit the Military Moms Prayer Group.
The Military Moms Prayer Group meets from 5-6 p.m. Thursdays at Christ Church Vero Beach, 925 14th Lane, Vero Beach.
